There is a whole lot more to patents than preparing and filing applications and prosecuting them to issuance. You need to make sure you do things correctly at the beginning to avoid major issues along the way.

This seminar is for anyone who has filed patent applications or intends to do so in the future.  The seminar will focus on how to avoid the common mistakes in;

  •     Preparing and prosecuting applications,
  •     Ensuring clarity on ownership of the invention,
  •     Patent Application; incomplete disclosures, missing descriptions
  •     Practicing the invention


Speakers:

 
Patrick J. Kelly is a partner in Ballard Spahr LLP in the Intellectual Property Department, a member of the biotechnology practice team in the Patents Group, and a member of the Life Sciences/Technology Group. Dr. Kelly’s practice focuses on intellectual property matters related to the life sciences. He advises pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and scientific instrumentation companies and venture capitalists.

Marc S. Segal is of counsel in the Intellectual Property Department, and is a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation Group, the biotechnology and pharmaceutical teams in the Patents Group, and the Life Sciences/Technology Group. Mr. Segal’s practice encompasses the spectrum of intellectual property law, including patent prosecution, litigation, counseling and licensing. He advises clients in the biotechnology, biological sciences and pharmaceutical industries.

The ETC, a venture of Baltimore Development Corporation, is a non-profit business incubator program with two separate incubator facilities, focused on growing early-stage technology and biotechnology companies in Baltimore City.
